Things You Should Know About Charitable Giving

Elizabeth B. Roghair, director of gift planning at the Chicago Botanic Garden, will be the guest this month on the cable access show Financial Solutions that airs in numerous northern Cook County and southern Lake County communities in Illinois. Charitable Giving is the topic of the show and she will address various gifting issues including income and estate tax ramifications.

Before joining the Chicago Botanic Garden, Roghair was a principal and executive vice president of an Evanston based real estate advisory firm working with universities, charities and church related pension funds on their real estate investments. She previously served as Assistant State Treasurer and Director of the Office of Financial Management in New Jersey.

Roghair received a B.A. in history from the College of Wooster with high honors and earned an MBA in Management with distinction from New York University’s Stern School of Business Administration. She is also a Certified Public Accountant.

Among her many outside activities, she is currently a member of the board of directors of the Chicago Council of Planned Giving and serves on the planned giving committee of the Chicago Foundation for Women.

The show will air on AT&T Cable once a week at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday’s for the entire month of October. The program reaches 105,000 subscribers on channel 35 in Arlington Heights, Bartlett, Des Plaines, Glenview, Golf, Hanover Park, Mt. Prospect, Northbrook, Park Ridge, Prospect Heights, Schaumburg, Skokie, Streamwood and Wheeling. The show will also be broadcast on Channel 19 at the same time to 120,000 subscribers in Buffalo Grove, Elk Grove Village, Hoffman Estates, Lincolnwood, Morton Grove, Niles, Northfield, Palatine, Rolling Meadows and Wilmette.
