Where can you turn to have a financial planning questions answered for free? For many Daily Herald readers the answer is The Financial Planning Association of Illinois who each year provide volunteers for the Daily Herald’s Financial Planning Call-In Program.

This year’s event was held on October 3, 2007 from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m. at the Daily Herald office in Arlington Heights. The Financial Planning Association of Illinois is a professional association that provides resources to help the public better understand the benefits of financial planning.

The seventy callers ranged in age from 22 to 87 and nearly half asked questions relating to retirement savings or education planning. Other topics included real estate, estate planning, and insurance.

Patrick Doland, a principal with Reason Financial Advisors in Northbrook, was one of fourteen volunteers. As president of the North Shore Council of the Financial Planning Association of Illinois, Doland stated, “There are many individuals who from time-to-time have a financial question, but don’t use the services of an advisor. We’re glad our FPA members were able to offer our assistance.” Doland is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERâ„¢ practitioner and received an MBA from Northwestern University.

In addition to financial planning, Doland also provides portfolio management services to middle market and high net worth clients in Northern Cook County and Southern Lake County.
